Your Saboteurs (all 10 of them) generate all your negative emotions, including stress, anxiety, self-doubt, anger, avoidance, procrastination, insensitivity or discontent. This is a function of the amygdala, a small, almond-shaped structure in the brain's temporal lobe that's part of the limbic system.
Your Sage handles Saboteurs. It's the one in you that handles challenges with a clear and calm mind, and positive emotions. It also has access to your 5 primary powers. For peak performance, you'll need to learn to boost all 5 powers and know when to use which power. We'll cover this more later!

My breakthrough came in 2015, during my recovery from paralysis following spine surgery, after decades of intense chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. I spent months after surgery feeling anxious, angry, frustrated, and scared, wondering why this happened to me and how I would move on. Over time, I began to see my anxiety differently, which led me to seek help and later start a career in mental health and peer support.
After nearly a decade of working in mental health and with other mental health professionals it became clear that the helpers absolutely need the help too! Feeling overwhelmed by increasing demands at work while only waking up to start the day with 40% energy to give a career that requires 110% or more is unsustainable. Although we know it's not healthy, we sacrifice ourselves to fulfill our passion for serving others. While it's wonderful to serve others, it's also setting a poor example, damaging our relationships with family, friends, and ourselves. Left unresolved, it harms our patients and members of the community who care for us and need our help too.
